Long story short. Just now parting together my first precision rifle. Only scoped rifle I have shot is my ole trusty 10/22.

I EVENTUALLY want to get into hand loading, but for now I am looking for some ammo recommendations to see what I can squeeze out of this rifle in stock form.

Remington 700 LTR (stock)
Premier Heritage 3-15x50

Onto some ammo which I have read up on here, and hoping for recommendations and or suggestions.

(links for information purpose only, I would look for the best deal)

1. Black Hills - http://www.midwayusa.com/Eproductpage.Exe/showproduct?saleitemid=280175

2. Hornady Match - http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=212811

3. Federal Premium - http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=358610

and my last question...

From my old M1A I have about 120 rounds of Hornady TAP (red tip, defensive) in what I believe is 168 grain. About 4 years old.

Is this something that you would shoot and not worry about it? Or something that you would like to get on your ballistic charts and save as much of it as you could should you need something with a bit more... "pop"

Thanks all!

Federal Gold Medal Match is what everything else has to measure up to.

The 168gr TAP will work fine; use it up.
