Re: .308 Chamber Length

Go gauges I buy or make for .308W are 1.630" at .400" diameter on the shoulder.

The 308 chamber is supposed to be between 1.630" and 1.640".
The 762 chamber is supposed to be between 1.630" and 1.6405".
308 SAAMI ammo is supposed to be between 1.627" and 1.634"
I try to set my rifle's headspace at 1.631".
I try to push the shoulder back on the ammo to 1.630"

Hello Ckark I maybe crashing this thread. I am looking for a set of go/no go gauges for my Ruger PR in .308. Do I really need them or is the headspace gauge sufficient? Which gauge do you recommend. I am shooting factory Hornady 175 gr. and Federal match 168 gr, SMK. Also who makes a desent AR10 armorors wrench that does not cost 75 - 100 dollars?

Thanks DannC
