Been running 178gr Amax's out of my FN SPR with great results. Load is 44gr RE15, Wolf LR Primer, Hornady match brass seated to 2.900" OAL. It is running 2710fps out of the rifle with a ES of 25fps. I have shot this load out to 1280yds and they are remaining stable and keeping great accuracy also. 200m is getting a me .5 MOA 10 shot groups.

Below is a 500m man target I shot the other day. Six shots for the fatal funnel. Wind was gusting 10-20 from 9 o'clock.

Center to center of farthest holes was 2 7/8".
Rifle is performing great with this load.
The load at 1000yds is getting me sub 9" 5 shot groups. The come up on the scope is 36.5 to 37 MOA.

Below is my last three shots at a 3" bullseye qualifation target for the SWAT team. This was also fired at 500m with 14moa dialed on the scope.

I have swithed over from 175SMK's to the 178gr Amax's as I have found they are out performing the SMK's (Atleast with my rifle and two other friends).

That's impressive, Terry. I shoot the 178 Amax using 46.5 grains of PowerPro 2000 MR at a seating depth of 2.276" (to ogive) out of a Savage 110FP (1:10 twist) with a 24" barrel with great results. Muzzle velocity averages around 2675 fps.

My best friend has the 24" FNSPR (1:12) and we have just worked up a ladder test for the 178 Amax for his SPR. I know he will be excited to learn how well the 178 Amax performs in your SPR. Thanks for sharing.

Suaponte,

Those are excellent groups...its tough to argue with results like that...Although i'm curious to see if you'd get faster velocities with 2000MR powder.

Squarenut,

Have you notied temp issues with 2000MR? its now summer...and i'm expecting more people to chime in with their experience with 2000MR however, reports of temp sensitivity are not pouring in.

No signs of temperature sensitivity as of now. This will be the first Tallahassee summer (really hot, really humid) in which we have shot the 2000MR, so I will post any updates.

nice groups, I run 45 gr of varget in win brass with a russian primer, in my SPR with krieger 25 inch 1-12 twist, I can substitute the 178 Amaxes with the 175 SMK's, same exact dope to 1000yds.
keep shooting good.
