I’m about to start reloading for my Remington 5R in 308. Never reloaded for precision before. I’m going to buy some Lapua brass. Any thoughts on if I should buy the small rifle primer or large rifle primer version?

My .02¢ is to stick with LRP. There's a ton of information on the net with some issues with the SRP brass, especially in the 6.5 Creedmoor using slower powders. If you are intent on using SRP brass, do your research and go from there.

I reload a lot of 308 Win. I've never felt I needed to try the SRP brass. I'm sure someone here has experience with SRP brass in 308 Win.

Do your current primers crater at all right now? If so go large rifle. If they are always smooth with no cratering at all then the palma brass might get you a few more firings and a few more fps. I’m going to bet you have a raggedy ass remington firing pin with the corresponding chamfer around it though and thus have abundant cratering like my factory rem bolt does with every charge no matter how conservative the load.
