308 Marlin Express

Not my long range rifle but a reload question.

Of course marlin has basically ended manufacturing 308 Marlin Express ammo. I have everything but the projectiles. Could I use Hornady 178 gr. A max 30 cal (308). Just looking for input. Of course it’s a lever action tube feed so that is a concern.

Hornady's book has a 140gr Monoflex, a 150/170gr Interlock RN, or a 160gr FTX bullets listed. All those listed are either soft tip or flat tipped.

That’s what I saw too. The A max has a polymer ballistic tip but it’s pretty stiff so I guess it could still ignite a primer in recoil.. thx
