Thought since I was at the range yesterday Id chronograph some of my 308 loads, loads that shoot some pretty decent groups out of my Classic stocked rebarreled 700 varmint, now wears a 24" stainless sporter barrel, and my 26" SPSS. 1st shot was 47grs 2000MR under a 168AMAX for a velocity of 2783fps, 2nd was 47grs CFE, velocity was 2830fps, these two grouped like this last year at 300yds. from my SPSS.
Up next was the Classic 308, shooting 178HPBTs with 47.3grs 2000MR, net result was 2726, which is inline with what Alliant is getting. This load shoots very well, too. Like this @200yds.
Last but not least, same Classic rifle I shot 48grs 2000MR under 168AMAX, that shot an awesome 2795fps!! None of these loads have any pressure issues.
Conclusion, if you want more speed out of your 308 and very good accuracy these 2 powders ROCK!
