Thought since I was at the range yesterday Id chronograph some of my 308 loads, loads that shoot some pretty decent groups out of my Classic stocked rebarreled 700 varmint, now wears a 24" stainless sporter barrel, and my 26" SPSS. 1st shot was 47grs 2000MR under a 168AMAX for a velocity of 2783fps, 2nd was 47grs CFE, velocity was 2830fps, these two grouped like this last year at 300yds. from my SPSS.

Up next was the Classic 308, shooting 178HPBTs with 47.3grs 2000MR, net result was 2726, which is inline with what Alliant is getting. This load shoots very well, too. Like this @200yds.

Last but not least, same Classic rifle I shot 48grs 2000MR under 168AMAX, that shot an awesome 2795fps!! None of these loads have any pressure issues.

Conclusion, if you want more speed out of your 308 and very good accuracy these 2 powders ROCK!

I'm with you. Love 2000MR. I did not have time to do a work up before heading north last weekend so I loaded up 30 155 SMK with 49g in LC brass. First 3 rounds went into the same hole out of my 20" Savage 1:10 tube! Put the next 10 on a 3" gong at 300. Did not bring my Chrono but will do that next.

I tried CFE223 in my sps-v 308, shooting a variety of 155 bullets with no success to my liking but did get up to 3050fps.

I've always found the burn rate perfect for the 175 plus bullets. I tried to run the 155 scenars with Power pro and it was the worst group I ever got out of that rifle. Switched to 175 smks and with Lapua, fgm210, and 48 grains I was running at 2770. That's with a 22" bartlein on a gap crusader!! Hammered at matches!
