    @Frank Green

Guessing that in your FAFO you have played with every combination of barrel out there looking for the Holy Grail.

Here is a data set from one of your creations you won’t have to spend time or money on.

21 inch carbon steel, conventional lands and grooves, 9.5:1 left hand gain twist to 8.75:1.

I wanted to FAFO for myself and just try something different from the 11.25:1 and 10:1 all my other .308s are. Didn’t know what to expect.

I’ve got less than 300 rds on this barrel.

This was today at 300 yards…

First 5 were low using 1.4 mils of E. I cranked up to 1.6 E which seems an awful lot. .308 is usually 1.3 to 1.4 for me. I’m going to confirm my 100 zero but this is same setting I used at Sig for a class and it did fine.

Unsure if clean barrel needs some fouling to settle in. Shooting infrequently these days I usually soak barrels after a range session and put them away with a film of kroil to sit muzzle down for months. Guessing most of the kroil ends up in my muzzle cover.

12 shots of 175 FGMM in a 1.5 inch diameter circle once the rifle and I started settling down. I could probably drag the ring down/slightly right and add two more but I’ll call those pulled.

Beautiful rifle! That's a fair assumption on fouling. Most of mine need a few rounds to settle when they've been cleaned really good.

Did you go back to 1.3 to 1.4 for that 12 shot group?

No in order to get centered I ran a 1.6 E setting.

    The 5 low were 1.3 and 1.5..

The next 15 we’re all 1.6 and the three outside of 1.5 inches were me sucking balls.

I used to leave my rifles fouled because I’d be shooting them within the month.

I noted tighter groups than but it could also be due more frequent shooting.

I clean every trip now not knowing when a particular rifle may make it out of the safe.

Five rounds seems a lot of settling shots.

Why did you go with such a fast twist for 308? Im thinking of a BB LHGT 308 for the next barrel order.

    I dont know.

Just wanted something different from all my other 11:1, 10:1 .308s.

Heard that some places were checking it out and getting good results in shorter barrels.

Figured if I was going to gain might as well gain some rpm too.

The first rifle in this thread….

    Is my current “go-to”.

I think this Bartlein will become the new Billy Beroo with more trigger time/rounds down range.
