Has anyone tried the 245gr bore tecn bullets that are for sale on Midway? And is the fact that they are made out of brass going to adversly affect anything? Also can they really have a b.c. of .869? If this is the case then why aren't people shooting them besides for there price? Thanks in advance.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I never got them to shoot better that 1.2 MOA out of three different rifles, 1-12, 1-10 and 1-9.5 twist. I never bothered to work the BC.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I'd be interested to hear if anyone had tinkered with these as well.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

CoryT how far did you test the bullets?
I shot three to check the velocity with my current 250 Scenar load (99 gr. Retumbo) . At 100 yds. I maybe got about an inch group out of my TRG at 3122 fps @85 degrees. This didn't bother me since the bullets should not begin to stabilize until further downrange. I have not had a chance to stretch them out yet.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I ran them out to 1300 meters, but I was not impressed. Went through 100 and gave up.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

Dont bore riders like the V3 need to have a special chamber to allow them to be seated out longer or something like that? THis may be an explination as to why many who have tried them in facory rifles or rifles with normal chambers have not gotten good preformance?

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

Their website say .070 off the lands. Mine are extremely long for the Sako and must be single loaded. It will not eject a loaded round without going past the bolt stop.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

Toygunner could u let me know how the rest of you testing goes. I have 100 to load up in my rem. 700P and will post my results. If anyone else has tried these, even if not the .338, I would like to hear your evaluation ot them. Thanks

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I call bullshit on the BC being .869 and being 245 grn, the lapua scenar (sp) in 250 grin is a bc of .675.

Look at the bullet design.I just miced a 300gr SMK @ 1.720 and a Leigh BoreRider (Same .869 BC as BoreTech) 245 gr @ 1.810. Rocky Mountain Bullets has a 325gr 338 with a BC of 1.035.

Toygunner and Face, I'm just getting into 338s, I too am interested to hear about your testing.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I have a box of these that I haven't tried yet. I am actually waiting for my 338 snipetac to show up. My particular setup will spit these things out at approx 3500-3700 fps with a twist rate of 1:9.25. Hopefully in about a month or so I can give a range report. But I am with brand692 I would also like to hear about the testing.

Re: 338 245gr Bore tech bullets?

I am just starting to load develop with these bullets. So far at 600 yards I got a 3.5" group. But it was only three shots. I will load some more development rounds and see if I can get it smaller. Then, once I have it developed I will shoot more than three to get a good idea of how well they shoot.
