Re: .338 285 GR question

I bought some H1000 but haven't had time to try it. Iv'e had great luck using RL-25 with the 285's. Out of an AR30, I get the best accuracy closer to the lands (.005 to .015). Best groups were .25moa at .010 off the lands, and loading mag length (3.625 oal), I was getting around .75moa.

I think you're starting too low at 73, from my experience with H1000 and 300 gr projectiles you're better finding a node near the top of he range. I've gone all the way up to 92 but found the node to be around 88.5. I'd start at 83 and work up carefully watching for extractor marks and the other usual pressure signs.

ok that basically confirms that i should be able to work up to 92 max and be safe ty

You should be fine just work up carefully. After 90 I got some hefty pressure signs in my new barrel whereas it was fine in the old one. However with the 285 you should be fine, you might actually be able to push slightly beyond if safe to do so. Retumbo also seems to be popular with th 285's and might be worth consideration, should be some load data kicking around here for it.

Re: .338 285 GR question

well i discovered my gun isn't picky about how many grains I use. this is a 15 round ladder i started with 83 grains and ended at 90 with no signs of over pressure i got a good node from 88.5 - 90 grains so ill work with that

the rounds started far left then went up and curved down toward the bulls eye (the good node) i cant be happier with this gun.
