I recently purchased a .338-378 I'm he Weatherby Accumark. My intended uses for the rifle is punchig paper at 1000 yards or more and also having it double as a long range hunting rifle. Unfortuneately it will take me the better part of 6 months to finish aquiring the rest of the items to make it so I can take it to the range. Any opinions for scope rings, base, or scope? Also I was wondering who makes Weatherby aftermarket stocks. I'm looking for something like the McMilian A4 I have on my .308 but with a slimmer pistol grip. So far I'm thinking Nightforce 20 MOA base with TPS scope rings, topping it all of with the 8-32 Nightforce scope (the one with target turrets/side focus). I want the rifle to weigh about 12-13 pounds without a bipod attached and would consider two different scopes for hunting/target.
I figure with 6 months of waiting I'll be profiecent enough with my .308 to switch to the .338-378 for the 800 yards and up targets. One last thing: does anyone have load data for this caliber? The twist rate is 1:10 if that helps at all.
