338 lapua 1 in 9 twist

Hello All!

New to the forum. I have a Savage .338 lapua mag rifle with a 1 in 9 twist. What is a good size bullet that will be stabilized by this twist rate. I noticed that most .338 lapua rifles have a 1 in 10 twist.

people complain about the 300gr stuff in a 1-9 but the 250s are great pills anyway

1-10" stabilizes the 300s just fine. Your 1-9" will stabilize 300 or heavier. You could shoot 250's with a twist that fast, but theoretically you would suffer faster barrel wear.
