I want to open up my factory 30-06 700 action to accept the 338 Lapua round. How wide feed rails need to be? I have a 300Win so I have an idea but would like to know how much over that I should go.
the 30-06 and the .300 win mag have the same feed rails you need to go off of a ultra mag action to get the .338 lapua to feed. my suggestion would be to use a ultra mag donor action and save some time and money
I know the bolt face is different. I was planning on using a CEG bolt from midway. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminoligy. The area where the magazine fits into the bottom of the receiver is different on the 30-06 compaired to the 300win. Is it different for the 300 RUM or 338 lapua?
If everyone says its unsafe why does remington make them? I don't understand unless there is something way different between the receivers on there 338's compaired to the 300 or 30-06.
