Finally received my 338 LM rifle (Defiance Deviant Tactical action, Bartlein MTU 1/9.3 twist barrel, XLR chassis). Now this is the issue. I'm planning on using 285 grainers ELD-M with Retumbo, have Lapua brass and CCI 250 primers.

I found that the distance to the lands is 3.810" and the max length the mag would load would be about 3.730", this would be a 0.080" jump. I could modify the feeding ramp slightly I may get another 0.020". Now, I'm new to 338 LM but this jump seems like a whole lot to me.

I know I can single feed but I'd like to feed from the magazine without greatly affecting accuracy.

Do you all think this should be fine? Could I get an accurate shooting rifle with the magazine with these numbers ?

Thanks all

Accurate mag... the magazine is 3.800" outer length, action magazine opening is 3.800" and chamber is 3.810" to the lands. The usable magazine length should be around 3.750" give or take. Doubt a lot more without feeding issues. Finally, even though the action magazine opening is around 3.800" there is a small lip on the feeding ramp that protrudes on the magazine and I could see rounds catching on it.
