Hey guys. I am about to order a 338 RUM reamer, but before I do I would like to know if anyone here has experince with building 338 RUMs. The reciever is a rem 700 and it will be fed from a 300 win mag aics magazine. I normally just call Dave at PTG and he has the reamer to me before it can even cool off. Before I order a reamer I would like to know if anyone has a specific reamer print they prefer for this type of setup? Thank you, Cody.

I ran mine through the 338 AICS mag, very restricted COAL; especially for the 300grn pills. I could not seat the 300 Berger in the RUM cartridge & fit the AICS mag, too damn long. I feel the RUM is an under rated cartridge, I run a 300SMK @ 2780fps. Pretty dern good smack down w/o Lapua costs.

The one that I'm using is 285 Hornady and RE-25 88Gr, have lots of r-25. Works great for busting rocks and plate. Also tried 94gr, RE-25 with a 250 GameKing just to make some noise and try out the Rifle, shot ok. Remember you only need to cut the rib down 2.25 from the top front to get it to work. If you look at the Mags in the other post you see the follower exposed with 5 rds in there, don't need to go to the bottom. Good Luck.

That's good info. I have 300smks and us869 I have not decided on barrel length but am leaning towards 28 inches. Have you ever tried us869? Also cabelas has cases in stock if you are looking. Thank you for your help.
