338 RUM recoil on lightweight rifle?

I want to build a custom 338 RUM lightweight rifle for hunting. How much recoil is expected of a gun of this caliber in a lightweight rifle? i will be shooting 250gr and larger bullets, it will have a muzzle break on it also. Thanks

Depending on the muzzle break it should feel like a 20GA shotgun. Not all that bad. Being that it is a hunting rifle you will only really feel it when you sight it in.

What break would you recommend? I'm on a fairly tight budget.

Try the surefire break, works really good.

I've fired it in an 8.5 pound rifle, scope included (no brake). With a Limbsaver pad, it's tolerable. As long as you've fired a few "big" guns before, you shouldn't be worried.
