I just bought a .338 Win Mag in a Savage 114. I'm looking to try and shoot a thousand yards with this gun, and my friend who is helping me with this project tells me that the bullets with the high enough ballistic coefficients are too long and will push the pressure too far. I looked at the Sierra 250 grain boat tails, and they have the highest BC's but he doesn't think they will work for me.
Can you guys please recommend a general loading to point me in the right direction to try and push this gun to a grand? Doesn't have to be exact powder measure or anything, but bullet brand and weight, brass and which powder you would think might work. I know every rifle is different but I just need a "you might try this" type of thing.
Thanks alot guys
