338 win mag target rifle loads

I have a 338 win mag single shot on a savage target action and a 26 shilen bull barrel. My chamber is throated about .170. I have loaded 300mk and with 75 grains of reloder23 have achieved 2690fps with no obvious pressure signs. I know this seems fast, "lapua fast". I have used two magneto speeds to verify. Has anyone else done this? I am looking for any loads with the Hornady 285 gr eld match. In my chamber overall length is 3.585 with .020 off the lands. May start with 70 grains of 23. Nosler brass and fed215 primers. Has anyone compared velocities with the two pills? Bearing surface seems a bit shorter on the hornadys.

I dunno but for some reason I like you for shooting a 338 win mag for accuracy. Keep us posted.

Accuracy has been excellent. I have been shooting hornady 250 bthp at 2860fps. I have chronoed 2910 with no pressure signs. On break in shots 6-10, 5 shot all in .341, I actually covered the group with a dime. 300 smk at 2625fps actually have same poi at 100 yards. I shot on a windy day and 5 were in .400. I wanted to get my win mag in to mid lapua territory and I have achieved that. Short story, accuracy is excellent. 600 yards two were touching I pulled number 3 and it was still a tad over 2 inches away!

UPDATE... I got to load and chrono some hornady 285 ELDMatch pills. I loaded .020 off lands which gave me an ogive of 2.7800" and an oal of 3.5850". I loaded up until I got a slight pressure sign. The bolt got just slightly right to lift but no flat primer at 76.0 grains of reloder23 which chronoed 2772fps. I'm going to try grouping with 74 grains which chronoed 2709 fps. I did not take the 300 matchkings until I got pressure signs. Ran out of time at 75 grains of reloder23 which chronoed at 2690. I'm very pleased and impressed with this. Not quite as hot as a Lapua but effective range is not to terribly far and my brass is way cheaper.
