Before I start - yes I've done searches...

Therefore I wanted to get opinions regarding powder for the 338 LM. I want to know from the .338LM shooters, what powder is the most popular for the 250g Scenars?

Any help is appreciated.

Re: 338LM Powder

N165 n170 4831sc use lots of the N170 because I found lots. other wise the 165 would be my ticket. RL25 was a good choice to, it worked well for me.

Re: 338LM Powder

I started/still using RL 25 and having good luck with 250's. Now working up with VV24N41 which is a step below VVN170 in burn rate, reason I have 50+#'s I used when I shot 50 BMG.

Re: 338LM Powder

I like the Vihtavouri powders but I found them to be more temp sensitive than Hodgdon powders. But they sure do burn clean. How has the Vihtavouri powders performed in various weather conditions with the .338?

I will know more in about 3 months. I live in N.E. Montana, a real proving ground for extreme temperature change. Minus 50 in the winter to 115F in the summer.
