358 Win anyone?

Re: 358 Win anyone?

start at 45gr Varget and work up to 47gr Varget Max but we have found a compressed load of Varget to be awsome top performance and reduces some felt recoil over using H4198 but you can use any powder between H4198 to varget but i prefer to use the slowest that still gives good velocity and a full case to improve ballistics.

Re: 358 Win anyone?

If I were financially capable of owning all the additional barrels I might want for my Savage, I'd be very interested in .358 Win and .35 Whelen. I see those bigger bullets as outright hammers.

Re: 358 Win anyone?

Bit of trouble with the 358 today... The range I went to was packed and the wind was howling something fierce! On top of all of that, I think my primers got a little moisture in them over the summer while I was gone. I had 9 FTF out of the first 25 loads out of it. Looks like decent strikes but no bang... I'll have to pull the rest of them all apart and use a different box of primers that has been in an ammo can.

Alright boys, I have to say this thing is a sleeper for sure!

Montana 1999
Douglas 12 twist
Win 308 brass necked up
250gr Hornady RN
46&47gr of Varget
WLR primer

No chrony data this round but this thing puts them all touching at 100. I didn't load enough to see what she can do at 200. All this with a 1-4 NSX!
