Gunsmithing 3D Printed barrel extension- are we there yet?

Direct Metal Printing (DMP) is available in titanium and other metals. Is this the threshold we've been waiting to pass or are we not there yet? Any one have any examples? It'd be nice to change minutuae vs. having to endure the mass production mindset.

Right now, DMLS parts aren’t comparable to machined parts for either strength or elongation. They’re also horrendously expensive outside very low-volume runs and not-manufacturable-otherwise geometry. Give it a couple years.
