.408 cheytac ?

Re: .408 cheytac ?

You need to beef up your wallet a bit for that cartridge. It feeds on expensive dollar bills. LOL, but it allows you to reach way way out there.

Re: .408 cheytac ?

The .408 is a very interesting concept and has in my opinion a number of good arguments for it. That being said it is also disliked and discounted for a number of reasons of which can perhaps best be categorized under impracticality and expense. You can see some information here (however there is some incorrect information also from a technical and historical standpoint)

Also there are a number of discussions here on SH. It is very nice to play with at long range when a .50 is as impractical as it is for me however I would never consider purchasing it as my primary weapon.

Another thing to consider is that according to my recent contact with EDM, CheyTac recently ran into some issues and is having to liquidate, again I do not have it on authority just what I understand.

Re: .408 cheytac ?

There are several .408-based shooters here, so if you end up with specific questions, ask with confidence.

Re: .408 cheytac ?

It is a great round designed for extreme long range shooting.

It is likely that the rifle you saw is not chambered in 408...but rather the infamous "8 bucks a pop" round.
