40cal 140g lead tcfp using clays

a friend of mine has purchased some 140g lead tcfp as a test, usually he uses 180g. he only has clays powder. hodgdon doesnt list this bullet weight and doesnt list clays for a 135g jhp which is the closest in weight. any suggestions?

Try calling Hodgdon, they may be able to help.

Here's an exert from ADI's reloading manual (They make Clays and call it AS30N. AP50N is International Clays and AP70N is Universal, just for reference). No direct correlation, but it may help.

Loaded 10 rounds at 4.1 clays using data from handloads.com for a 135 grain jhp (4.1 start 4.5 max). Worked the slide, dropped brass in a pile but weak feeling. Much weaker than with the 180 grain and 3.5 clays. Will jump up to 4.4g
