I have a 40X rimfire rifle with the older strait bolt. I'm building an M24 trainer so I ordered a new bolt With the Remington 700 bolt style from Pacific Tool. What do I need to do to check and possibly adjust the headspace for the new bolt?
Thank you very much!
DW

Ok, so I can start with a set of Go/No Go and Field gauges. And then from there if adjustments are needed the barrel will need to be set back or machined? Im not sure how that will work with the cut-outs for the extractors. Would it be easier to get a new barrel?
Thanks,
DW

I would mill the boltface to set the headspace at 0.043 and call it good. You need an empty boltface so you get a good measurement without the extractors.
