Looking at a 40 xb HB CMP rifle
matching numbers action & bolt 85-90% gun

Made a search for ths information and did not find what I was looking for. If there is a thread discussing this, please send me to it.

What are the significant differences between the 40x and the 40xb?

Does the 40xb have the same "bedding device" as 40x?

Is the 40 xb still built on the 700 action?

Any difference in inherent accuracy?

Is there a difference in $$ value in the two versions?

Thanks

Re: 40x vs 40xb differences

I have a remington xb. From my understanding, the bolts for 40x and 40XB are based off 700 series but more accurate or "custom". My bolt is stainless steel with teflon finish. The difference between 40x and 40xb is the stock.

Re: 40x vs 40xb differences

The 40X (721) is based on the forerunner of the 700 (40XB)
The 40X has a stright bolt handle, the XB has a swept back handle, the 40X has a different safety than the XB, the 40XB is a heavy barrel, the 40X has a standard barrel.

Re: 40x vs 40xb differences

I haven't heard of differences in accuracy. Pricing is fairly similar as well but the 40XB (700 style receiver) is sought after more simply because of the ease of upgrades as it will drop into any Rem 700 stock/chassis without modification.
