YIKES seriously? Like 858 said the GAP was designed by Glock so they could get 45ACP performance in the same sized frame as a 9mm or 40s&w. Straight walled pistol cartridges headspace off the rim of the case. With the case itself being shorter than an ACP round I dont see how it would work.

Now it wouldnt surprise me if someone was making mags and an aftermarket barrel to shoot the GAP stuff out of a 1911.

But I figure if you are going to tote a 1911, then why not either tote something that has proven itself like ACP or something hotter like 10mm since its not going to change pistol size any at all.

Re: 45 GAP in Kimber Custom II

GAP ammo pressures supposedly run slightly higher than standard .45ACP, but still lower than +P. The SAAMI spec is 23K.

Also, I've read GAP ammo uses a specific primer designed to operate in extreme temp variations with no change in pressures. Don't know about the propellent.

Oh yeah forgot about that ... the GAP uses a small pistol primer instead of a large like ACP does
