Tack welded a 5/16 x 1 carriage bolt in the hole. JB Weld, sanded, polished the carriage bolt head and painted with a sharpie until the neighbor can cerakote it.
The hole in the bottom of the bolt is 5/16. Measure the depth and figure out how much you want sticking out. Get a carriage bolt that length, insert it in the hole, tack weld in place, bolt knob is pretty hard so I didn't tap it I just tack welded. Get some JB Weld SteelStick and apply it, I molded it close to what I wanted then sanded to final shape. I polished the carriage bolt head before I applied the steelstick.
I did a similar mod. I threaded a set screw into the factory knob and turned a piece of bar stock and drilled and tapped it . And uses a,ball end mill to dish out the end .
There are lots of threads about doing it on a rem 700. Same exact concept, just different bolt. BTW, the full size badger knob is too big, mini was much better
