Anyone here have any experience with 5.11 Tactical's Rush 24 pack? Myself and a teammate are thinking of purchasing it to carry our gear when we shoot tactical bolt action competitions. A basic load out would look something like this.

-50-250 rounds of ammo
-Basic tools/cleaning supplies to maintain the rifle and scope
-Two ten round AI mags and two 5 round AI mags
-Packable rain gear
-Data book
-Gloves
-Sunscreen/chapstick
-Chamber flag
-Large rear bag
-Small rear bag
-Mildot Master
-Masking tape
-Wind meter
-Shemagh
-Rangefinder
-Jacket
-Eyes and ears
-Snacks
-Blast mat
-Elbow pads

Any comments or personal experiences on the Rush 24 would be greatly appreciated also feel free to recommend a diffrent pack. Were looking for more of a traditional molle backpack type. We carry our rifles slung on our sholder so Eberlestock is not necessary that and we already own Gunslinger II's lol thanks in advanced!

Re: 5.11 Rush 24 Pack

Juice,

My buddy and I won the Rush 24 at a match this summer... Both of us got rid of the pack. I sold mine and he gave his to his teenage son.

I was not impressed. Personally I think 5.11 is making some over priced cheap gear lately. This pack is no different. The stitching look poor and weak in areas, the pack design was nothing special. When I look at a pack I focus on the suspension (carry straps and how they ride) This pack falls into the category that allows the user to put more weight in the pack than the suspension can handle. Your load out should be fine but I believe there are better packs in the same size/price range, namely SPEC Ops THE Pack.

Good advice here. I tend to agree with his opinions as well regarding 5.11 gear of late. Their RUSH packs are WAY overpriced for what you're getting. I'm not saying that they're trash, just that they're not the value that once used to be & construction quality seems to be declining slightly...

I agree that the SPEC./OPS T.H.E. Pack would make a great choice. Made in the USA, very consistant & reliable construction quality, and a layout that would be more than adequate for your needs. If you like the "assault-style" & design, consider CamelBak as well. They have 2-3 different models that would work great for you but they can get pricey. Another one to consider is the Eberlestock X4 HiSpeed. This is the X3 LoDrag pack WITHOUT the integrated scabbard. The waist belt is removable for small loadouts or hauls, or can be used if you're doing a run & gun where you need the pack cinched up & stable. It is a remarkable pack that doesn't get much air time due to the X3 being so popular...

There are certainly other pack that could do the job. A lot is going to come down to personal preference, budget, etc. I'd be happy to add some more ideas/suggestions if you want to elaborate further.

Best of luck to you!

Well I like the Specs Ops THE pack but the lack of pockets and dividers inside the main 3 pockets is a deal breaker. Looking for something with a flat bottom so the pack stands. Good storage layout. Hydration bladder capable. Molle webbing on the outside. Budget is $150-$300.

Re: 5.11 Rush 24 Pack

I chose the Tru-Spec 3day pack. I was looking at the 5.11 but the Tru Spec is about $50.00 cheaper with the same features. I like Tru Specs clothing as well. It's very well made. Once I get my pack in I will report back.

This...didn't need to even get mine out of the plastic bag it was shipped in to see it was nothing but a tinker toy.

Sent it right back to where it came from for a refund.

Junk........

Re: 5.11 Rush 24 Pack

I have the 24, I use it for my carry-on when traveling, have packed 50 or more pounds of tools in it for work, take it hiking, hunting, shore fishing, snowmobiling, and use it as my range bag. The only failure in the two years I've had it was the seperator between the zippers on the two small upper pockets came loose, fixed it, no probs since. I like interior pockets and organizers, but compared to my old Fly motocross bag these ones suck. I'm also disappointed that it doesn't have a waist belt or anyway to attach one. It'll only free stand if its loaded right, once you beat the shit out if it the removable plastic in the back is the only thing that remains remotely rigid.

Re: 5.11 Rush 24 Pack

Take a look at the Eberlestock Halftrack. It's about the same price, but a lot easier to organize, access, and add molle pouches. I had a rush 72 and wasn't too impressed in the design or quality over some of the cheap packs I got from the BX.

I've got that pack. What he said is how I feel about it:
"This pack falls into the category that allows the user to put more weight in the pack than the suspension can handle."

It needs support at the waist.

It's not a bad pack, I'm keeping it. But I would not buy a second.
As for the size, it's just right.

Not enough info out on these to buy sight unseen.

Just ordered the rush 24. Got 12% free shipping and a free coffee mug. If I don't like I'll sell it or throw it in the closet and get the Camelbak BMF 500. Thanks to all those that replied! Much appreciated!
