I just bought an M&P 15 VTAC rifle and I am very very impressed with the rifle. I love it. It came with a surefire QD flash hider for a suppressor, which gives me a great excuse to send out my form 4

.

The rifle came with the Surefire FH556-212A flash hider, which is very nice and does its job well. It is also a QD mount for suppressors. I wanted to know if this will only work with surefire suppressors, or are there other cans that will work with this flash hider?

I thought the flash hider had to be torqued and timed by a gun smith? I can just unscrew it and screw a suppressor on and then screw the flash hider back on later?

Guess any time someone dosn't understand something, or plain dosn't know, we just have to be rude to them.

What method should I use in removing the flash hider and what torque should I apply when I install it again.

Re: 5.56 cans that fit my Surefire QD muzzle break?

That was rude? Or are you being a bit sensitive?

How about this? To remove a flash hider/brake, I use a thing called a wrench.

Re: 5.56 cans that fit my Surefire QD muzzle break?

keep the mount and shims/washers together when you remove them, when you re-install it will stay timed.

Really? You guys want to be assholes to a guy on the internet you've never met because I'm new to the sport and have a question you deem stupid? How the fuck was I supposed to know I could just grab a wrench and go to work on my flash hider unless I asked? It was a simple question.

Thanks for the help. I figured there was a specific torque to use when I re-install it.

Re: 5.56 cans that fit my Surefire QD muzzle break?

6.5mmman the adapter should be torqued on with 20-30ft/lbs. If it a lot more than that it very well could have been installed with Rocksett. Take a bucket of hot water a soak the adapter in the water for 10 minutes. That will soften the Rocksett and allow you to remove the Surefire adapter. Keep the shims and spacers together and it will always time correctly to that rifle.

It might just be me, but those flats on the muzzle brake are not there for looks. They are for a wrench. How else do you suppose the gunsmith put them on?

Calm down a bit. It's just the internet.

There aren't a lot of cans that are IN their price range....
