Gunsmithing 5/8x24 from 1/2-28 flash hider

I don't know anything about thread dimensions.
Is it possible to re thread a 1/2X28 flash hider to fit a 5/8x24 barrel?

Yes, the major diameter for the 1/2 x 28 is .500"
and the minor diameter for 5/8 x 24 is.5799"
as long as the OD of the flash hider is big enough, it should be a simple task.....

iirc the cuts around the circumference are too deep to thread the ID 5/8. Dont have one handy to measure though.
