I have some Lake City 50 BMG brass as well as some that is stamped S L 45 and maybe a few more stampings. All looks in good shape, looks like once fired brass.

Are these good for reloading?
I reload but don't have any experience with 50 BMG.
If so what is their value each?
I'm running them thru my tumbler as you read.
If you read this thread one year from now, don't worry, I took them out.

Re: 50 BMG brass questions.

Yes, they are good to load!

SL45 = Saint Louis 1945 and LC is Lake City.

Not sure what 50bmg brass is going for! Clean them up and put them on Gunbroker. They will sell for what they are worth.

Re: 50 BMG brass questions.

Those will work just fine for loading. I have quite a few LC that I have been using for a while. I have a few firings on them so far and have not had to dump any yet from wear.

Back when I bought mine I think it was about 1 dollar each. Somewhere around that.

Sometimes you get ones that were fired in machine guns with very loose chambers, and you will have to make sure the shoulders get pushed enough for it to chamber in your rifle. Other than that, loading them is pretty similar to other cartridges I load, just bigger.

Also make sure you lube them plenty before sizing, including the necks.

Re: 50 BMG brass questions.

The SL45 probably isnt worth much to anyone since its about 65 years old. Dont get me wrong it can be used but most people look for stuff made in at least the 90's. The LC is pretty good stuff and I have seen it sell between 75 cent and a dollar a piece. There was a guy selling it on here a while back and I was picking it up for about about 30 cents a piece. really good deal. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.
H50BMG is really good powder.

Re: 50 BMG brass questions.

Thanks guys. I'll finish cleaning these up and post them on the hide for you 50 cal users and make it worth your while. I don't use 50 cal so it's just brass to me.
Just check in the for sale section in the near future if you want them.... I won't ask to much.
