i was wondering about you 5r owners...how much more accurate do you think these 5r's are over standard remmy bull barreled guns at long distances... say 800 yards. what does the five groove rifling do for the accuracy...ect..

Don't you know that 5rs shoot 1" groups at 1k all day long?

Shame on you!

I helped a guy sitting next to me break in a new 5r at 100yds, I shot it few times and it looked like a nice rifle.

I think people can get close to MOA at 1k with the right tube and people have reported doing better.

I guess a lot of factors come into play when shooting at 1k, so it's hard to say. This being said, they don't come with any .5 MOA guarantees, if that's what you're wondering?

Re: 5r accuracy at long distances??

I dont know about how much "better" the accuracy is than the standard 700P, but it does have a 11.75:1 twist rate, so I likes heavy bullets (175 gr) and that helps with long distances. If this is your first rifle I wouldn't worry about it not being accurate enough, I've put about 500 rounds downrange with mine, and it seems to shoot better everytime I take it out...

Re: 5r accuracy at long distances??

I'd say that most of the shooters that can actually shoot their rifles to their full potential and be able to tell the difference between a 5R and conventional Remmy barrel, have generally upgraded to custom tubes by that time.

The 5R may be a bit more accurate than the others, but not enough to split hairs over. IMO it is a good rifle to get your feet wet with.

i shot earlier today and i got one of my buddies to shoot a round down range then i shot that one clean out of the air at 1000 plus yards i thought it was a pretty decent shot for me

Re: 5r accuracy at long distances??

I shot my 5r a couple of days ago at 300 with 2.5 in groups. I shot my sps-t at the same distance and got the same size groups if not a little smaller. Was the first time that I had taken the 5r out and I had added an ai 2.0 stock to it. The sps-t was in an ai also when shooting. Don't know how well either of them will shoot to 1k but I doubt they will be to much different. That being said, I like my sps-t but I love my 5r. Might just be because it is in ss.

i've shot some nice groups out to 700y with mine using 175g FGMM and out to 500y with BH 168 A-MAX, i don't know about the 700 p as i have nver shot one but people seem to like them a lot.
