6.5 Barrel Availability PredatOBR vs MWS?

Im getting ready to pickup one of these platorms to run as a mluti-role (14.5 pinned 308 and 18" 6.5 creedmoor). Both can be purchased right now for roughly the same price in 308 but cant really get barrels for either.

Which one would be easier to get a 6.5 barrel for? Do the LMT ever come available? Does anyone make custom options for either?

You can buy PredatOBR in 6.5 and 7.62 barrels are available. No idea what the wait time is though.

Thats more of the issue. Would love to get one one new but always hear about horrible 12+ month lead times on the orders

I’d call Larue and see what it’s like, but I promise it’s not 12 months.

Everyone seems to be backed up with orders. Today LMT posted on their Instagram page a picture of a delivery of new machinery to help them keep up with demand. LaRue did the same a while back. LMT Instagram My suggestion is pick one and order it. At least start the waiting period for delivery.

They quoted me 2-4 month wait for the tobr. Got one ordered- hopefully it’s the shorter wait

They quoted me the same, it’s their standard response. I cancelled my order after all forums I’ve read said it takes much longer than that, and that was before all the panic buying

Seems like they don’t charge your card until the order. As of right now im not sure what will come sooner... Larue taking 4 months or the next batch of LMT 6.5 barrels quoted April 2021. Then again i could be waiting 6+ mo.

Then we have KAC who has a 16" upper coming out - maybe in a year or two, then add another year to get one in hands

I am on the Dec MWS barrel list. Already paid for.

Just buy two UU kits. Who cares if it takes 6 months, its worth the wait and you will save a ton.

Its going to be long time before you can get a MWS unless u get lucky with a used one.

I just pieced together a complete MWS with 20" 6.5CM (only part im waiting on) for about $3K, $500 less than a KAC upper.

LaRue doesn't seem to rigidly follow "first in first out" people like the poster above cancelling an order can end up with you getting something shipped the same week if it happened to be a match. I've had uppers ship anywhere from next day to 6 months later. The pro-tip on avoiding super long delays is do not order anything else with an upper kit, lower or complete rifle. The 6 month delay was caused by a sling socket they didn't have in stock.
