I just finished a .260 Saturday and before loading up some rounds, I decided to do some bullet measuring. I have Nosler CC 140, SMK 120, 123 and 142 and some Hornady SST 129. Measuring a handful (25)from each box of 100, I was surprised at what I found.
All measurements were taken from base to ogive using hornady gages. The results were as follows:
120 SMK plus/minus .005"
123 SMK plus/minus .005"
142 SMK plus/minus .003"
129 SST plus/minus .003 and
140 Nosler CC plus .001", only one bullet was over by the .001", the rest all measured the same.
I realize this is by no means a real test, I was just surprised by the numbers I got, especially from the Noslers.
Will this matter on target? I suspect little if any. I guess I need to load some and see.
