I'm kicking around the purchase of a DPMS 6.5 Creedmoor and I can't come up with much information. I would like to know how well this cartridge functions on the AR10 platform. What velocity can I expect with factory ammo(24" barrel)? Has any body worked up a pet load, most data I find is for bolt guns with around 26" tube. I'm still on the fence and would like to hear some first hand impressions and numbers.
thanks,

Dave

Factory loads are taken from a 28" tube. Figure you're going to lose 200 FPS in a 24". (You may not, but if you lose only 150 you'll be happy.) The cartridge was actually designed for the AR10 (DPMS), so I'm sure that functioning isn't an issue. The idea was to allow the 140 class bullets to be seated short enough to fit the mags, while preventing them from intruding into powder space. Thus, while the .260 is superior with the 123 class bullets, the CM actually closes the gap (mostly)with the longer, heavier bullets. If I was doing a bolt gun, I'd go with the .260 because it can be stoked a little more (especially with Lapua brass coming). But in the AR10, I've heard guys complaing about the 140 bullets and magazing length issues. I think the CM is a better deal in this platform.
