Guys, I am new to using Redding die. Just got a compeition neck sizer and bullet seater w/ micrometer adjustments after troubles w/ my Hornady die. Redding is closed today to ask this question or I would just call them....does my neck sizer come with everything I need to start work or do I need a bushing? If I need a bushing, what size would I start with for 6.5 C using 140 Amax?

Thanks a ton for your time and input!

the die does not come with a bushing, you want .002-.003 under the neck diameter of a loaded round, probably 289 or 290 with Hornady brass

You need to measure the neck of a loaded round and get a bushing a couple thousands smaller. It depends some on what your doing with the rifle as to how tight you need to make the neck. You might want loosen or tighten it some to fit your needs.

Just measured some match 140 AMAX necks for you and it was 6 x 0.291 and 4 x 0.292. I measured 10 from 2 boxes of the same lot.

Out of curiosity, what problem did you have with your Hornady die ?

btw - I just cleaned my Redding seater, I'd recommend you clean it if you haven't already. Mine had all manner of junk inside that felt like lube or something. I used some WD40 and some qtips. The most important part to clean (as I quickly read in the instructions) is the seating stem.
