Hey guys, I heard that guys are using rutumbo in the 6.5 Creedmoors. Anyone tried this? If so, how did it perform? FPS?

I think the slowest powder I have seen work respectably is H1000. That was paired with Hornady 147 ELDMs. I imagine the sierra 150s would fall into the same realm but I cant get them to shoot out of my RPR cause of twist requirement/speed. Regardless my personal experience with the slow powders and the 147 ELDMs are as follows:

*CAUTION THESE WORK FOR MY RIFLE AND MY RIFLE ONLY* All loads using this bullet were loaded 0.02 off my lands which I found by using the Hornady OAL gauge. I have not done accuracy testing yet just velocity. I was using Hornady 1x fired brass trimmed to 1.910 and CCI 250 Large Magnum Primers. 10 Shot string was fired over 10 minutes ( 1 shot per minute ) and it was cloudy 70 F with light winds from left to right at 5 MPH. Shot at a paper target 200yds away. Targets are available to anyone who wants to look at them just PM me and I will email them to you and gladly discuss my findings/swap questions and just laugh at how crazy they are) I would post them here but I am still new to this hosting crap and it keeps not showing up....so PM me if you want to see more.

I first grabbed some H1000: ( the large drop and slow build back up of velocity in the early charges intrigues me so I may re-accomplish this string to see if it happens again.)

45.2 - 2625
45.5 - 2603
45.8 - 2638
46.1 - 2610
46.4 - 2637
46.7 - 2658
47.0 - 2673
47.3 - 2712
47.6 - 2706
47.9 - 2713

No pressure signs at all. There is no load data for this powder so I started conservative.

Next up was H4831SC:

43.2 - 2589
43.5 - 2584
43.8 - 2598
44.1 - 2648
44.4 - 2630
44.7 - 2667
45.0 - 2690
45.3 - 2704
45.6 - 2706
45.9 - 2737

Huge jump after a slow start. Still no pressure signs and this load data was loosely based on Sierra 150s found online.

Lastly Hogdons Superformance:

43.9 - 2656
44.2 - 2628
44.5 - 2643
44.8 - 2675
45.1 - 2664
45.4 - 2707
45.7 - 2721
46.0 - 2769
46.3 - 2762
46.6 - 2763

Started off already above 2600 which gave me hope but plateaued...then jumped up then plateaued again. No pressure signs. Again based loosely on the 150 load data for Sierra and cross referenced on Hogdons web sight which labels max load of 45.2 with the 147 weight bullets. I was very very careful once I got to 45.1 and made sure each fired case was inspected using my magnifying glass after it was shot ( its not just good for burning ant hills!)
So I had 0 pressure signs using all three of these slower powders. Again I just wanted to see if I could get them going to the 2800+ realm that RL 26 has shown. Unfortunately RL 26 is nearly impossible to find at the moment and so I experiment using these alternatives. I am trying to stay with more stable powders temp wise and could easily use some RL22 and push it hard.

The targets are what intrigue me in terms of how they look. Again was 200 yds...and while 300-400 are better for this pseudo ladder test ( aka Satterly 10 shot) the tightness of the strings even at 200 was very surprising.

As for Retumbo....I will see if I know anyone with a little I can use to try lol

^^^^^^^^
that is all slow. Midsouth has free hazmat on R26 > $150. Do yourself a favor and buy 8 lbs. 2980fps with 47.3g R26, 28" bartlein, 140g ELDM, SD 2!!!

These are heavier bullets and working toward mid to upper 2800s as a goal. Yes there are reports of pushing 140s to 3000. Different project.
