For those who shoots 6.5 creedmoor. At 200 rounds I measure 2.235 and lately at 1000 rounds I notice my same group .4 at 200 yards grew to almost 1 inch at 200. Remeasure my throat and it’s now at 2.253. Coming from a 308 world I didn’t expect to check them this early. It is interesting and wanted to share to everyone.

6.5 creedmoor savage action
Bartlien barrel 24inch
Lapua brass
130gr Berger hybrids .14 off lands
H4350 43.8gr
Ferderal match primer

I myself think that amount of erosion is normal. I do not have experience 130 hybrids, but most hybrids hold seat depth start to a pressure dump.
You may have to chase your lands, but I would clean the barrel good, and chrono as you go looking for discrepancies before you do.

You are doing good as far as erosion goes, welcome to the 6.5 Creedmoor. I cant wait to get my 6mm Creedmoor see the erosion rate on that.

The load seems right. How many groups did you shoot it 200 to confirm this? Seems to me .4” groups at 200 are very good for a field gun, and 1” is just good. Did the gun always shoot .4” groups at 200, or now and again? Without a bunch of data samples, the variance would be meaningless to me. .020 erosion, is also inconsequential imo.

I have done a few groups at .4-.5. I usually hit the 200 for a group before going out to the 1000 yard every time I go to the range. Ran this same load for about 800 rounds. I got picture of every outting to keep track of them on my computer at home. (I’ve had flyers here and there on bad days)

Tag. I’m gonna check out the distance to the lands on my rifle when I get home. I was having issues with 143 ELDs and reloder 26 right at 1000 rounds. Never checked the distance to the lands after the initial check. I’ll take a look at it later and post what I find.

Yea, they move back a bit faster than 223/308.
That said my last 260 barrel went over 3000 rounds and I abused that barrel pretty badly.

You are shooting it pretty hot it's going to erode faster

I aim for this speed on mine to closely match the prime ammo which was roughly the same speed out of my rifle. I never got into the 140gr game and have been sticking to the 130 since that was what i started with and loved how well it worked so far. What I am worried about is at this rate I wont have much left to hold onto the bullet .
