Soon i will be shooting a 6.5 creedmoor. I have ordered and received 6.5 cm brass from Hornady. However, is there other brass that can be formed into the 6.5 creedmoor? If so what is the process? Will a FL resizing die take care of it or is there more to it?

I have been reloading for some time but i have never tried using brass from a different cartirdge.

Thanks for the help!

Re: 6.5 creedmoor

Do a search here or over on 6mmbr.com and you can find out how to make it if you want to go that route. I have made some out of Win 22-250, but its more effort than its worth so I just buy 6.5 Creedmoor Hornady brass and call it a day. It is good brass, just dont try to run ridiculous pressure or you will toast the pockets quick like. Stay sane on your pressures and it will last a long time. If you want 2900fps+ out of a 6.5, get a 6.5x284, otherwise, the 6.5Creedmoor will treat you just fine. I love mine.

These were made from .308 cases by my friend DMiller

They work fine if you do it right but like DavidD said its a PITA.

I got about 6 loads out of factory brass. Most of the time the primer pockets get loose. </div></div>

I followed nearly an identical process except i timed the 308 brass near the desired length before sizing since i didnt have a 6mm pilot. After working the brass to that extent it got a quick annealing. I used them for 4 reloads until my factory brass came off back order. I still have the 308moor brass in a box on back up.

With the exception of the first batch every subsequent reload was sub moa as you can see in JFC' photo. It can be done, but its far more work than its worth as long as factory brass is available.
