Re: 6.5 Grendel for Texas Hogs
Though these are kills using 6.8 X 43 mm, the Grendel with the TSX is so similar that I would say YES, you can kill 300 pounders with it.
I have never recovered a 110 TTSX or 85 TSX from a feral hog yet, all of them were clean pass throughs. They even go through both shoulder blades. Two of these pigs were shot with a CA 12.5" barrel, SPCII chamber, using 6.8 X 43 mm SSA 85 grain TSX tactical pressure loads. MV is right at 2900 FPS in this barrel. A third was shot with a 110 TTSX.
Again, I expect the same performance with the Grendel using these excellent bullets. I would use only the monoliths for heavy feral hogs, after my experience of the last 3 years.
The black pig in the top photo was shot with a 110 TTSX, hand load using 29.5 grains of Rel.10X in SSA Brass, and CCI 41 primer, at 2.30". MV averages 2520 in the 12.5" barrel. (that was the mag I grabbed when I saw them on the Thermal), You are seeing the exit wound, as I shot it, on the run, in the left shoulder blade and it went clean through, as usual....DRT
The last pig, estimated to be 300 pounds, was stepped off at 207 yards, and the bullet went through both shoulders....DRT.
