I am loading Hornady brass that has been fired 2-3 times and getting primers falling out.

I am loading with 42.0 grains of H4350 and getting 2812 FPS with 140 eld's.

Rifle is a defiance machine action with a Bartlien 26" barrel.

I can't determine any pattern to which cases have loose primer pockets it just seems completely random. All of the brass was either new in package or fired by me in my rifle.

It's probably been 3-4 cases out of 100 that I have found so far that the primers just fell out in the action. This cause a major malfunction and I had to pull out some tools to get the loose primer out.

Primers are WLR for the record.

This isn't a huge deal but I just wanted to make sure that it was a brass issue and not a gun issue.

WSR? Isn't the that Win small rifle primers? If u mean WLR (large rifle primers) id switch...WLRs have a bad history of pin hole leaks, will tear up bolt faces...I had a couple hundred pcs of lapua 308 brass years ago that were loose after 2-3 firings with Win primers...switched to CCI/federal and they were tight enough to last another 10 firings on the 308

I meant WLR. I don't know what they hell I was thinking.

Ok I was thinking the primers were a bit on the small side. I am just using them with the Hornady brass to get my reloading steps down and trying to produce the best ammo I can before I break into my Lapua brass.

I have CCI 450's ready to load for the Lapua.

The WLR are easy to get locally for cheap so that's why I picked them up. Using them with the Hornady brass I am able to "almost" shoot one whole groups. 5 shots are consistently smaller then a dime.

Hopefully the Lapua and CCI's will do as well or better.
