Im looking to have a 2nd saum built up for competition. I want to get your opinions on barrels be it gain twists, 8 or 8.7 twist, or anything in between. I have always used 130s in my 9.5 - 8.5 gain twist and had good luck at 3100fps. I would like to use 140 hybrids in this rifle. Ill be using the 296nk 120fb reamer, that seems pretty common. Any input is welcome since therenare a lot of shooters well versed in the saum game by now. Thanks.

It's not a SAUM , but I use a standard 8.5 twist with 140's in my 6.5x284 around 3000 fps , works great out to 1300 yds

1:9, 1:8.7, 1:8.5, 1:8 final twist would all be fine.

.120 free bore would be great for standard S/A magazine options. I'm sitting at 2.825ish to the lands with 140 ELDM's with a .081 free bore reamer, so an extra .040" would be great for AICS style mags without the restricting plate. The .296 neck reamer will require turning if you resize 7mm or 300 SAUM brass, but works great with Hornady brass (no mods needed with the Hornady).

My 28" Proof 4-groove 1:8 twist with .081 FB is getting 3155-3160fps with 140 ELD's for the accuracy node, can get over 3200 if I wanted to push it.

I run a 1:8.7 twist and gun is a hammer with 140 and 130 gr vld's. 61 gr h1000 for 140 gr load gets me 3100 fps with very low es and sd. Copper creek worked 300 saum brass.

8.7 twist #3 Bartlein fluted, run the 139 Scenars, 61.5re H1000, BR2's with 3163fps @ 2000'.
