6.5 WSM Load Data

My rifle is set up for the 6.5x270wsm (or 300wsm). Here is what i know so far based off the research i have done. The case capacity of the 6.5wsm is within 2 grains of the .264 Win Mag so it has been suggested that you can use .264 Win Mag data for the WSM. I have also looked at reloading data that guys have used in their 6.5 wsm's. I read that you could use 270wsm load data to load the 6.5, you can't. The guys that tried that were way over max. The true data is about 10% less than the 270wsm i.e. 100gr of powder X in the 270wsm would be 90gr of powder X in 6.5wsm given the same bullet weight. I'm aware that there are a few loads on Reloadersnest. Also you can buy a membership to Ammoguide.

My question is: Who of you use a 6.5wsm? And what is your load info?

Please include: Barrel length, twist, bullet weight, powder charge, powder type, and primer.
Thank You

Re: 6.5 WSM Load Data

I haven't completed this rifle yet, i still have to bed it and send it off for Ferratic Nitride. So i am trying to get some load info together until i'm finished building it. I'll start. These are borrowed from another website.

Re: 6.5 WSM Load Data

If you Google 6.5 Leopard you will find a couple of starting points.
The 6.5 WSM I had was very "peaky" concerning pressure.
With 140ge Moly bullets, try working up to 62.5grs. RL25 or working up to 58.5grs. RL22. These were safe in my rifle but may not be in yours. Please use the proper amount of caution.

Re: 6.5 WSM Load Data

I'll try the 6.5 Leopard search. I'm looking for a load that is not temperature sensitive. I was thinking of H4350 or H4831sc but can't find anyone using it. I have a short barrel, 22".

Re: 6.5 WSM Load Data

21.5" 8.5 twist Benchmark Barrel

270 wsm Norma cases necked down

Berger 140gr vld

.030" jump (3.050" OAL)

63gr H1000

CCI Br2 primer

No pressure signs at all. I was told that 65-68gr is a good node so i started low at 63 to be safe. Around 1/2 moa at 500yds. Have not Chrono'd.
