6.5cm 140gn ELD-M troubles.

Without knowing your exact process how can we help?
Factory ammo? If not what powder and what’s the charge? They have shot great in all of my rifles? Do other bullets shoot good?
40gn to 44gn of staball 6.5 in .2gn increments. Hornady 1x fired brass. COAL of 2.8". CCI 200 primers. Stock R700 with 1 in 8 twist. I found a low node at 40.5gn and 2500 fps. Everything else shoots patterns instead of groups.
Never had a Issue with 140 ELDM's they always performed very well.
Can you and the rifle shoot other bullets/ammo with better results?
Possible your rifle just dont shoot them well.
I have a .223 criterion barrel that will shoot everything well except for 75 ELDM.

Staball shoots best for me at the top of the pressure range starts to come alive with a full case I’m also using mag primers
That could the barrel not liking the bullet. You aren’t getting any speed with the lower nodes. Maybe you have already but maybe try 140 BH if you can get some, just to see if its the bullet that is not agreeing with your setup.
Try Berger. If you cant get them or anything Sierra or Hornady make to group 1moa or better, you’re doing something wrong.
What’s your handload’s CBTO and what is the CBTO of the Am Gunner 140g the rifle likes?
41.8gr H4350 Lapua brass, br4s, 2850fps, 20 thou off, or at standard length

This^^^, I shoot 41.5gns H4350 with 140 ELDM's in 6.5 CM and 260 improved. Both perform sub 0.5 moa as long as the nut behind the trigger does his job and are not picky about seating depth.
They shoot in all my rifles. I have one that likes varget over h-4350 though. So in normal times I'd say try a different powder. But that's not so easy anymore.
I'd give it a go with a different powder. I have had StaBall not group so great in a couple barrels. H4350, RL-16, Varget, Hybrid 100V have all been pretty solid for me.
If they don't shoot well immediately with one of those powders, try different bullets (even different lot#).

I was surprised how well the factory ammo shot from my gun while shooting like warm crapola out of my friends gun are you running factory rounds the ones I pulled apart had 41.8 gr of h4350 sorry my infromation on lengths seems to have grown legs and moved it's self . have you reciently cleaned or maybe need to clean your barrel ?
Am I understanding correctly that you believe Hornady 6.5 ELD-M, 140 gr, are loaded with H4350?
I'm not disputing it, and I have no idea how manf do powder for factory metallic ammo....but I have been told once by a VP from Remington that the powder sold for home shotshell reloading is not the same as what is used by ammo factories as the factories have the ability to blend/adjust loads as needed by powder lot while the home reloader actually gets more consistent powder because....well, we don't blend/adjust (and there is all the lawyers and potential law suits, right?)
It really depends on availability and intended use. It's not very common for two different extruded powders to have the same diameter and length kernels. As such, it's risky business trying to mix and blend them because in bulk quantities, with vibration, the larger stuff will usually sink to the bottom of the container, altering the % ratio of the two powders throughout the container. So if you pull a rifle round apart and see an extruded powder, odds are that it's all the same type of powder, and then it's a question of whether or not the mfg. used cannister grade or a non-commercially-available non-cannister grade extruded powder. That being said the ADI powders (Hodgdon extreme line), Reloader powders, and IMR cannister grade powders all make their way into various factory ammo.
If you pull a factory round apart and it has ball powder, all bets are off. There are many families of ball powders with various burn rates that can be mixed together safely because they have very similar density and size.
Just switched over to 140 eld, taking out 10 in the morning for a ladder test, 40.6-42.4 seater at 2.8

I ran 42.8gr with cci450 in starline brass with berger 140 hybrids and it shot amazing but due to cost, sold my supply of them and bought elds
Loaded some at 2.802 for my Ar10, 41gr h4350, had it at 2615 out of a brand new 22” barrel.
Flyer is cold bore, measures .66” center to center. 5 shots.

I never could get them to group as tight as I wanted with a proof carbon barrel. I moved on to Berger 130 otm's and have never looked back.
