6.5x284 Barnes LRX data now up

Got an anemic 2775 fps average out of 51.5 grains of H1000 out of a 22" tube. <2.5" group at 400, but I need more speed.

No pressure signs up to 52.4 grains (max charge my first session). Next testing will go up to about 55.5 gr H1000 (my standard 140 HVLD load).

Just ordered a 6.5x284 for my wife. Rifle will be used for hunting antelope, deer, and elk. Max range around 600. You think I should be looking at the 140HVLD and 143ELDX?

You might want to try RL23. My hunting pards used them this fall, 54.2 grains RL23 with a 130 Accubond got them 3,075 fps out of 24” tubes.

Light bullets like you guys are listing and essentially SBRs for a x284, these slow powders are going to be disappointing. That RL23 is about the slowest powder I'd try as it's basically RL22 and 3000fps is exceptional out of sub 27" IMO.

H4350, H4831/SC, N160 would all be closer to full time burn/MV in the shorter barrels. Maybe even something a touch faster. Won't be good for barrel life (except the N160) but 1000 rounds is a lot of hunts.
