hunting/target? I use H4831SC in Lapua cases under a 142 SMK. Grains? I need to look. Shoots great though out of 2 different rifles.

I shot a 6.5X284 for a couple of years. Here is my experience. I just like the case and I was told many times what a barrel eating son of a gun ( no pun intened) it would be. I extected to get betweem 1200 and 1500 rounds out of the barrel. I did it anyway. When I took the barrel off it was still shooting well enough for me to win a local steel PD match. It had 2356 rounds through it. Most were 142gr MK's and H4350. My most accurate load was 49grs and it was just under 3000fps. Towards the end I had increased the powder charge to 50grs and wasn't back up to my orginal velocity. I tried H 4831 and couldn't get the velovity or accuracy I could with H4350. Hope this will be of some help. I think it is a great cartridge you just need to be aware of its drawbacks. I had a ton of fun with it.
