My 6.5x47 build is going to finish soon but I can't find any Berger 140gr Hybrids. Has anyone tried the 136gr Scenar-L or 139gr Scenar in a 6.5x47 with Varget? I have Varget and I can get either of the Scenars.

I had planned to use the Bergers from the start but in the mean time I will have to use the Lapua

I hear they shoot good but I've never tested them. Ive shot tons of 123L, 139L, 130 Hybrids, 140 Hybrids and 140 ELD-M. They all shoot good. My go to is the 140 Hybrid.

I shot 136L's out of one barrel, best barrel life I've ever had from any barrel, 3800rds and was still hammering, could not find more at a decent price so I just rebarreled. 3 groove barrel so it was slow, 2820fps, ran .570 G1 bc.
With the X47 case, I always felt a balance was needed between bc and speed, and heavies were not for me. Norma 130gr golden targets shine in this case.

You really ought to try a variety of bullets and powders with your rifle. They don't all shoot the same. My rifle likes the 142gr SMK, the 120 and 123 SMK and my buddie's rifle made by the same reamer won't work with any of them. He is running Berger and Nosler bullets which my rifle won't shoot worth a crap. We are both using RL 15 and RL 17 for the most part. He tried 4350 but went back to the alliant. You'll never know what your rifle likes til you try it....regardless of what everyone else likes.

I have had very consistent results with 136g Scenar-L projos. Like Milo, I run a .570 G1 tested over the last 800 rounds or so. When the barrel was new, I tried 142 SMKs which were okay by most people's standards, but paled in comparison to the 136g -L. Velocity ranges are from 2850-2880fps depending on temp ranges with H4350 (not Varget).

My pet load is 40.8 h4350 with 140hyb
And decided to try 136 yesterday. Started 36gr -41 gr as pressure test.and decided to shoot 40.8 for group.with my 26" barrel i was getting 2830 ave..my 140 hyb same amount of powder giving me 2780..136gr looks good..just make sure you got enough freebore

Looks like I will go with the 136gr Scenar-L until I can get some 140gr hybrids.

H4350 is not really available so I'll be using varget

Thanks everyone

Why not just pick a bullet and make it work, his smith should be able to give throat dimensions and what has worked for others. Anyone having a custom rifle built needs to understand freebore and throat and what it will represent in the gun. As for trying diff powders, again a waste, web is full of useful info, I know all barrels are different, but no reason venture out of the realm of this.
I'd give RL 16 a shot.
