Just finished measuring the depth of the primer pockets in 25 pcs of new, unfired, 6.5x47 Lapua brass. the deepest is .1263(2)and the shallowest is .1218 (1).
Measured some once fired factory and got .126 - .122 depth, the same with 6x fired pcs.
I was thinking that the Lapua cartridge drawings showed 3.05mm,or .121??
I will uniform the pockets with a deeper setting on the pocket uniformer, but before I do this am looking for any other observations from 6.5x47L shooters. Is this normal?
3.05mm does not equal .121??
This squaring of the pocket shoulder will help with the feel when seating primers, and, of course, primers are all the same depth.
The brass is from the cardboard style Lapua container, not the blue plastic.
I had some dud primers at below 0F and am wondering if the primers anvil was not seating properly; thus the duds and why the depth check.
