Gunsmithing 6.8 build and completly confused

I'm trying to build a 6.8mm rifle and im confused. I found a completely stripped M4 upper receiver and im wondering if that would be compatible with the 6.8 build or do I need to find a specific upper for this build?

No special uppers are needed. All you need is a bolt, barrel and magazine designed for 6.8. As far as barrels go, make sure you get an SPCII or equivalent as the SPCI barrels can have pressure issues. The 68forums are a great resource for information about the cartridge:

There is a group buy for the LWRC Six8 matched upper and lowers on the 68 Forum. The Six8 takes the Magpul 6.8spc mags. It come with an ambi bolt release installed and a bushing for setting it up as a DI system. If you don't have an upper an lower this would be a good way to go.
The magpul mags will have some advantages over the steel mags that are currently available.
