I am putting together a 6mm Comp Match and need to gather the necessary items to start load development and be able to transition from fire forming .243 brass to loading for the 6CM after the fact.
I like Redding Type-S bushing style full length sizing dies for everything else I shoot. They work perfectly for me and I get less than .001-.002 runout on case necks or seated bullets. In other words, my "methodology" works really really well for me in .308 and .223 AI.
That being said, I do NOT have anything .243 related as far as loading items are concerned, so check me out here, and let me know if I am on the right track.
(1) Get a Redding .243 Type-S full length sizing die and a few bushings to be able to load the once fired (NOT 6CM fire formed) .243 brass I have on hand.
Can you PLEASE give me a a range of the .243 bushing sizes some of you are using for your .243 loads? Assume a variety of brass from Lapua to Winchester, to Federal. All of which would generally require different size neck bushings, so give me a smallest to largest range if you would please.
(2) Get a .243 seating die. I use Redding Competition seating dies for EVERYTHING I currently load, so my question is, will a standard .243 Competition seating die work for the non fire formed loads, as well as the 6CM loads once the brass is fire formed? My assumption is yes, but I would like to hear it from you guys.
(3) Once I transition from standard brass to fire formed brass, I will need a 6 Comp Match full length Type-S sizing die. I have a quote from Dave Bruno for the Type-S 6CM sizing die, but would like to hear from those of you who are shooting this round, and what you are using and why. Choices are good, so lets hear them.
I plan on using H-1000 (have plenty of it), 210M's (have plenty) and Berger 105 Hybrids (have plenty). SO I am ready to go when it comes time to start loading, I just need to get these last few things sorted out, and figured this was the best place to ask, and get opinions.
Anything else you guys can think of to help get me pointed into the wind would be most genuinely appreciated.
Respectfully,
