Wanting to make some 6 creedmoor brass from ppu 22-250 brass. I was thinking of just running it through a Redding full length die load about 38 grains of 4350 behind it with a 105 gr bullet and shoot. Will this work? I know 6 creedmoor brass is plentiful but I already have the 22-250 brass and I have no 22-250 to put it in.

No one's answered, so I'll say what little I know. 22-250 can be formed into 6.5 creedmoor, but OAL will be shorter (short neck) than standard creedmoor brass. I don't know if this applies to 6 creedmoor.

Thank you MtnCreek I would sure think this is a fairly common practice. I am going to try it in the next couple of weeks don't see why it won't work.

I'm sure it will work, although it could cause issues if the neck is much shorter like it is in 6.5. I never loaded any because I didn't want to carbon up the throat forward of the neck, potentially causing a pinched bullet with a normal length case.

The first 22-250 case I sized to 6.5 I just lubed and ran it through a creed fl die. It ripped the expander ball off when pulling it back through. I also used an expander die in 6mm, then 6.5mm to neck up. That seemed to work pretty good. The body/shoulder did look different than creedmoor, but appeared plenty close enough for fire forming.

Got some of my 22-250 brass fire formed into 6 creed. Ran it through a fl die loaded it and shot it. Worked great except the primers came out of the case a little bit (maybe 10 thousandths). Also the brass is measuring short at 1.880". Pretty pleased with the results hopefully I don't see any bad carbon build up due to the brass being a little too short.

Good deal. If you're worried about stretching the body, you could try running a 6.5 mandrel through the necks then sizing back down to 6 just enough to leave a false shoulder to keep the head snug to the bolt or a hard jam into the lands.

I'd be interested to know if the necks reach normal length and if so, how many firings it takes.

Thank you MtnCreek for the help along the way. I will let you know how many firings it takes to get to 1.910". My guess will be around 8 firings. I tried to jam the lands but the bullet I was using would not reach. The rifle I am working with is the rpr. I have quite a bit of,experience reloading 6.5 creedmoor. I must say the 6 creedmoor when I shot it was grouping really well even with the fire forming process.
